COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Yesterday, the Ohio Legislature passed a biennial operating budget which maintained several key pro-life provisions. These included $6 million for the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program which provides funding for pregnancy centers and amendments which protect parents’ conscience rights and strengthen requirements for doctors who are listed as back-up physicians. Governor DeWine is expected to sign the bill before July 1st, when the state's new fiscal year begins.

The following statement may be attributed to Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life:

“These pro-life provisions in our budget protect women, religious freedom and our school aged children. It’s rather sad that these groups oppose such policies. Left unchecked, the radical pro-abortion industry would have an abortion clinic on every street corner and indoctrinate our children to engage in unsafe and unhealthy practices.

"Thankfully a vast majority of Ohioans oppose abortion and support pro-life policies. Elections have consequences and we elected a pro-life super majority in the legislature. We applaud their work and expect Governor DeWine to do the same.”

Founded in 1967, Ohio Right to Life, with more than 40 chapters and local affiliates, is Ohio's oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement in Ohio, ORTL works through legislation and education to promote and defend innocent human life from conception to natural death.

Very happy that we in Ohio will have our tax dollars used to protect life instead of destroy it through abortion. That anti-life Democrats would want us to fund abortion (which harms mothers, kills unborn babies, and alienates fathers) is reprehensible.

I feel so sad for pro-life citizens in states run by anti-life, virulently pro-abortion Democrats, like Gavin Newsom’s California or Andrew Cuomo’s New York. Someday, those states will be life-affirming like our beloved and pro-life Ohio. Just stop voting for those abortion zealots.
